It is a dream of many to earn the tag of ‘Working in Silicon Valley’. This world has been a witness to all the biggest tech giants emerging from the small garages around Silicon Valley. Google, Facebook, Apple, Cisco, Hewlett Packard, Oracle, NASA and Netflix to name a few. All of them started small. And now look where they are – touching the skies.

So many a times we wonder why the place has been named so? Technically, it is due to the large concentration of companies dealing with semiconductors. And since silicon is widely used to create semiconductors, so that justifies the name.

The valley is geographically located in the Santa Clara Valley in the southern part of the San Francisco Bay Area in the state of California.

Starting a fresh career

So what are the odds of a recently graduated student or an ex-employee to start a career in Silicon Valley for the greater good? It must be known that the competition is rough and cut-throat as every new dawn sees a new startup emerging in the valley. Many of them rise and shine and continue to expand. While many others are doomed to failure. It, therefore, becomes crucial that a newbie takes rational decisions before coming and settling down in the valley.

Due to the presence of a large number of companies, the rental prices have soared much high. This makes living in the proper Silicon Valley possible only with flatmates. In fact, the number of companies setting up has been considerably decreased due to the above factors. The companies feel that they will be in a better position to hire fresh graduates if they set up around Colleges and Universities.
