Edward Snowden, whose main goal is to not only fight but completely eradicate cybercrime and ensure the privacy of the users, launched a very unique app “haven”.This app is one of his best works to accomplish his goal of ensuring the safety of the users and provide them with a safe environment.
WHY DO WE NEED THIS APP?
Haven app is for protecting your personal space without compromising with the privacy. This application furnishes the motive to catch intruders spying on your personal data. It is an open source application that works on Android device. Don’t worry it’s designed to work on older android devices, so kudos to the developers! This application uses your device’s censors to track the environment and respond. It operates like a surveillance system.Unlike other apps, it uses the device’s camera, audio recording and even accelerometer to detect movement and notify a user. For instance, if someone intrudes into your room while haven app is running, it takes a picture and sends a copy to user’s device. To alert him/her about the situation. The user can take required actions.
DO WE NEED THIS APP IN OUR CITY?
Although this app got mixed reactions on social media this app is very useful for people in Delhi where the crime rates are increasing day by day.The national capital has got a long list in cases of murder, kidnapping and abduction, juveniles in conflict and economic offences. The national capital region reported 33% of the total crimes against women in the year 2017. And the worst thing is that many crimes in the residents of Delhi go unreported. When people report the crimes, less than half of those lead to a First Information Report. People can at least rely on such apps for evidence which would be very handy in catching the suspect.
